USM WORKHOUSE

At the beginning of June 2018, the country estate "Wehrmühle Biesenthal" north of Berlin was transformed for six weeks into the test laboratory The WorkHouse. Following the successful collaboration on the "PlayGround" exhibition at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, USM teamed up with the Dutch architecture and design firm UNStudio to create possible future scenarios on the themes of living and working as a source of inspiration for design.

Over the course of several days of workshops, USM invited participants from various disciplines to examine theories on the work of the future, from post-work utopias to concepts in which work and life merge. Building on this, the participants formulated new working models - with the aim of finding out how design can provide solutions for new forms of organization and requirements of the working world in the future.

COR Berlin conceived the basic idea and developed it further in close collaboration with USM and UN Studio. As part of the project, COR Berlin was responsible for the entire event organization, guest management, on-site support for the workshop participants, the program and implementation of the opening event including speaker requests and handling as well as the entire media and influencer communication.

On the opening weekend, USM hosted an open house with talks by international experts, interactive installations, workshops and the opportunity for exchange and inspiration. Anyone who wanted to experience the WorkHouse in more depth and participate in the dialog about the future of work and design could book a stay in one of the six guest rooms on the days when there were no events. In return, guests left their vision of the working world of the future in the form of drawings, sketches of ideas, videos or text messages.
